Route description Marchfeld Bridge cycle route

The 24 km circular course starts in Marchegg, predominantly known for its stork colony. Starting point is Schloss Marchegg. As the venue for the Lower Austria State Exhibition 2022 you get to immerse yourself in the exhibition 'MARCHFELD Secrets – People. Culture. Nature.'. Ride along the Kamp-Thaya-March cycle path from Schloss Marchegg to the train station. A long, drawn-out straight follows, passing 'Siedlung Heimatland', a settlement which has quite a number of agricultural properties. A short while later you come to Schloss Hof. Here you get to immerse yourself into a fascinating Baroque realm and will be inspired by the beauty of Prince Eugen's country residence. Along with the splendid palace, the unique Baroque gardens and the idyllic country estate with its plants and animals are also worth visiting. Cross the 'Fahrradbrücke der Freiheit', following the path into neighbouring Slovakia to Devínská Nová Ves. Ride north along the Iron Curtain Trail (EuroVelo 13). Always with you: the impressive backdrop of the abandoned tributaries of the March and flooded meadows. Cross the new VysoMarch cycling bridge to get from Slovakia back to Marchegg.

Don't forget your passport! Those who have time and the inclination ought to head south after crossing the bridge at Schloss Hof, along EuroVelo 13 and visit the impressive Devín Castle (+ 10 km) before heading north again.
