Description
Nestled in the midst of the Danube wetlands and an enchanting park, this imperial hunting lodge tells the final chapter in the eventful history of the Danube Monarchy. In 1918/19 it was the last residence of Emperor Karl and Empress Zita in Austria. The lodge houses exquisite art and the rooms the imperial family occupied. In addition to these items, this centenary year of commemoration (1914/2014) will focus on Franz Ferdinand, the lord of the estate and crown prince (special tours).
Explore the new interactive national park exhibition called Wild°Wechsel in reference to the trodden paths animals use in the wild. It will whet your appetite for a walk through the riparian forests and allow you to trace the history of this landscape back into the 19th c.
