Enjoy nature and culture by bike: Schloss Eckartsau, Schloss Orth, and the fascinating landscape of the Donau-Auen National Park await you along this 16 km long route.

Description

The family-friendly route starts at Schloss Eckartsau and leads through the floodplain in a southern direction to the Danube Cycle Path (EV6). You cycle about 6 km westward to the turnoff to Orth/Donau. From there, turn right to Orth, passing the castle and the National Park Center and then return over lightly trafficked agricultural roads to Eckartsau. The castles Eckartsau and Orth are highly recommended as sightseeing tips.

Route description Imperial Family Route

Starting from Schloss Eckartsau, the route leads westwards along the Danube Cycle Path (Euro Velo 6) through the Donau-Auen National Park to Schloss Orth. On an area of 9,600 ha, the last large river floodplain landscape of Central Europe stretches here – an impressive natural area and the perfect backdrop for this leisurely family route. From Schloss Orth, you return to the starting point via field paths. At both castles, nature-oriented playgrounds invite you to linger and explore.
