Leopoldsdorf im Marchfelde: excursion tips for young and old

The local history museum in Leopoldsdorf presents numerous, lovingly compiled exhibits on topics such as prehistory and early history, old crafts or Germanic and Roman finds. Old documents and views of the village as well as the story of the minstrel Tannhäuser can also be found under the museum roof. Another museum tip is the Breitstetten Steam Engine Museum: it houses the largest collection of historical steam engines in the German-speaking world - and displays fascinating rarities that have been restored to working order through painstaking detailed work.

Listed sights in Leopoldsdorf

The baroque parish church of St. Mark is well worth a visit. The magnificent church dates back to the late 18th century. The village is also home to several listed farmhouses from the second half of the 18th century. The Catholic parish church of St. Anna and several chapels also attract attention. The former kindergarten chapel is quite enchanting: the interior vault of the neo-Gothic building is painted with a starry sky.
